　5thアルバム。アメリカのピアノマンの大出世作。プロデューサーに、名パートナーとなるPhil Ramoneを起用。都会的という表現が本当にぴったりの洗練されたサウンドと楽曲ですね。本作の中では「01. Movin' Out 」「03. Just the Way You Are」「07. She's Always a Woman」そして、日本ではタイトル曲の「02. The Stranger」も有名。 現在でも古臭くないタイムレスな作品です。名盤。
